My Leadership Philosophy
Real-world experiences shaped my leadership ideals through a tactical mindset, as my career has focused on operations and program management. However, the Organizational Leadership Master’s program has created an environment for personal development and introspection. I asked myself, ‘What kind of leader do I want to be?’ I have set aside the formulas and methods of management I had espoused. I have opened my eyes, ears, and heart to listen deeply to what it could mean for me to be a leader throughout life in any circumstance. What has emerged are the values that are the backdrop of my leadership philosophy, which guide and inform how I lead.
Opening up Leadership
I desire generations of leaders to grow and develop by seeing themselves as leaders as they are today, not only as a future accomplishment.
Servant-Leadership & Listening
I desire to slow down to fully listen to those I serve, to see them become whole and freer.
Beauty in the Mess
I hope to encourage others to look at conflict and confusion as an opportunity for listening, to share meaning rather than upheaval and failure. This is not a singular event, but it is a continual journey of practice for me and the organizations I can influence.
Dialogue and Discussion
By engaging in dialogue, I open the possibilities to see what I have been blinded to and reduce the risk of leading people and an organization astray.
Cultural Intelligence
Engaging others with dignity while being true to my values requires a deeper understanding of those around me.
